SIKS Course “Trends and Topics in Multi Agent Systems” 2019

INTRODUCTION

From June 06-07 2019, the School for Information and Knowledge Systems (SIKS) organizes a new SIKS-course “Trends and Topics in Multi Agent Systems”. The course will be given in English and is part of the Educational Program for SIKS-PhD -students. Although these courses are primarily intended for SIKS-PhD-students, other participants are not excluded. However, their number of passes will be restricted and depends on the number of SIKS-PhD -students taking the course.

Multi-Agent Systems (MAS) is a quite broad and fruitful research paradigm in AI stressing the idea that intelligent behaviour should be studied not primarily from an individual perspective, but as behaviour taking place in a collective context. In this course we will focus on two of these collective contexts. The first one takes a societal perspective where social intelligence, responsibility and decision-making are the main focus. The second context is a collective human-robotics perspective where we pay attention to human-agent robot teamwork, co-active design and social robotics. Each of these themes will be explained in a number of lectures stressing a particular aspect of these themes presented by phactive researchers in the field. The course is relevant for and recommended to SIKS-Ph.D.-students working in MAS and related (AI) fields. Especially these Ph.D.-students are strongly encouraged to participate.
